How excited are we!!? We’ve been shortlisted for the Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards in the Business of the Year category. We were nominated and have made the shortlist. The Rushcliffe Borough Council have been out to the vineyard to interview Helenka and we’ve been invited to the ceremony later this month. “How very exciting, what an amazing compliment to be nominated, let alone shortlisted! Can I go in my wellies” said Helenka Brown, 2nd generation Nottinghamshire wine grape grower and owner at Hanwell Wine Estate.

About Hanwell Wine Estate

Hanwell produces Nottinghamshire Sparkling Wine along with offering vineyard tours and wine tasting.

Hanwell Wine Estate is a family run vineyard owned by William and Helenka Brown. The vineyard story began in the 1970s when Helenka’s parents moved to a house in West Bridgford, South Nottinghamshire where they found a vine in a dilapidated greenhouse in the garden.  This started a life changing path for the family.  Eglantine Vineyard was subsequently planted in 1979 and has been producing delicious Nottinghamshire wines ever since.William and Helenka have chosen to follow in the family footsteps and plant their own vineyard, this time in Hickling Pastures, called Hanwell Wine Estate.  Hanwell is a mash up of their children’s names!

Planted in May 2012 with the champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier the first grapes were harvested in October 2015 with the help of neighbours, friends, family and volunteers.
