Private Group Vineyard Experiences – learn about vineyard life and taste our wines – ideal for groups like WI, U3A, Rotary, networking groups and wine circles.

Hanwell Wine Estate’s Vineyard Experience comprises of:

  • Welcome drink: tea or coffee upon arrival, alternatively the bar is open!
  • Our story: Tales of Nottinghamshire vineyard life beginning in the 1970s
  • Vineyard: We’ll guide you into the vineyard and tell you about the grape growing year
  • Explore: wander at your leisure
  • Tutored wine tasting: 6 local wines

The complete experience lasts 90 mins, suitable for groups of 10-40 people

Date, time and season

  • To suit your group, choose any weekday Monday to Friday
  • We suggest a start time of 10am, 1pm, 4pm or 7pm
  • Anytime of year except October
  • Add cheese, olives or a Mediterranean platter to complete your visit, we suggest an additional 45 minutes for your visit

Winter and Spring seasons: The vines are dormant, in winter they are pruned, then the buds begin to swell in May.

Summer and Autumn seasons: The vines are in full growth, in flower or the grapes are on the vine.  We harvest in October.

Booking

We take group bookings often more than a year in advance and advise booking early to secure a date to suit you.

Adding people to the group can be done up to 24 hours before the start time, however additional food orders must be received and paid for 7 days in advance.

Payment 

The private group rate is £230, this includes up to 10 people, this is also the deposit. Additional people are +£23 each.

To make payment select the Group deposit and/or Group additional people below, add them to your basket and checkout.

The final balance is required a month in advance of your visit.  This can be done online by selecting Group additional person below. Failure to pay in full by the start time will delay the event.

Vineyard Experience details:

Complimentary welcome drink: tea or coffee upon arrival. The bar will be open if you would like a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Our Story: Tales of Nottinghamshire vineyard life beginning in the 1970s. 20 minutes

Vineyard: We’ll guide you along the gently sloping meadow path 100 metres into the vineyard.  Here you’ll be seated for orientation and to hear how we care for the vines by hand. 25 minutes

    • The vineyard is grassy, the ground is uneven and can be wet, the slope is gentle
    • There are seats in the vineyard
    • Our site is open to the wind and baking sunshine! Dress appropriately: sturdy shoes, wind/waterproof, hat and sunscreen.

Explore further Wander as you choose, 20 minutes

    • Love nature and the great outdoors? Visit the Wildlife Garden or wander down to the lake and nature reserve.
    • Scientist or engineer? Visit the frost fan
    • Simply take some selfies and to post on social media please tag us @hanwellwine

Tutored wine tasting to include 6 family made wines. You are invited to taste wines from the award winning Eglantine Vineyard our parent vineyard and Hanwell’s wines 45 mins

      • Over-18s only. We operate a ‘Challenge 25’ policy so if you are lucky enough to look under 25 years old, please bring ID if you would like to buy or taste wines.

Travel

  • Our address is Hanwell Wine Estate, Hickling Pastures, Notts, LE14 3QG
  • Find us, just 1 minute’s drive from the A46, on the A606 towards Melton Mowbray.
  • We suggest booking a taxi, taking the bus or organising a lift especially if you want to enjoy our wines.
  • Travel directions and google map here.
  • Organise collection 2 hours after the start time.

Any more questions?

  • Wine samples are hand poured 30mls each, totalling roughly 180mls per person. 
  • North star (when served) is a 15ml sample
  • Supervised children are welcome, we ask that they don’t distract other guests. Children will need something to keep them busy. We don’t have public wifi.
