Workshop FAQs

Rural Antics Workshops: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a workshop?

You can book a workshop online.  Visit the workshops page, select the date and add it to your basket.  Then follow the checkout procedure.

You can book by telephone, call 01949 81393 (don’t worry it’s a short phone number!)

You can visit us and book in person, come and see us at Hanwell Wine Estate, Hickling Pastures, LE14 3QG

What will I need to bring for the workshop?

For most workshops – just you. The price of the materials is included for most workshops, but check the workshop details online or joining instruction email to be sure. A notable exception is Digital Photography where you’ll need to bring your camera for the best learning experience.

Can I bring my own materials/ingredients?

If you have something special you would like to use you are most welcome to bring it along.  We can’t guarantee to use it, but will endeavour to include wherever possible.

What should I wear?

Most workshops have some time spent outdoors so dress for the weather plus add an additional layer as our site is quite windy and so feels cold.  Sensible shoes for rough countryside are advisable.  Often the grass remains wet even when the sun shines, so water resistant is a good idea.

What If a workshop is cancelled?

We reserve the right to cancel if the tutor is unwell and we are unable to find a replacement tutor. In such cases you will be given the option to transfer to another course or take a refund.

What if I can’t come on the workshop I have booked?

If it’s more than 14 days before the event email us immediately, we can move you to another date, another workshop, you can send a friend in your place or we can provide a full refund, just let us know.

Within 14 days of the workshop it is not refundable, however why not move to another date? Or an alternative workshop? Or send a friend in your place?  Email/phone us as soon as you can with what you’d like to do and we’ll see if your request can be accommodated.

I want to come on a workshop but I can’t make the date specified – What can I do?

If you can organise some friends we can hold a special one-off workshop for you on a mutually agreed date, contact us and we’ll see what we can do.

I have specific physical requirements; can I still attend a workshop?

We try to include any restrictions in the workshop description, but if in doubt please ask by phoning 01949 81393 or emailing We will respect your privacy.

Do I need to bring lunch with me?

All refreshments are included throughout the day.  For full day workshops a 2-course homemade lunch is provided.

Can you accommodate my specific food requirements?

We provide a balanced nutritious buffet lunch. If you have specific allergies or intolerances please let us know at time of booking or email

What’s for lunch?

Example menu:
