Bentwood Chair-making Workshop | Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th February 2018 | 10am – 4pm

Have a fabulous start to the new year and get hands on at our Bentwood Chair Making workshop. Due to the great success of last year’s workshop we will be welcoming our tutor John Hollins back to the Estate for his 4th workshop.

John will be hosting a two-day Bentwood chair making workshop, introducing you to the tools and techniques required for this traditional woodcraft. Working alongside a small group, John will demonstrate how to hand-craft hazel, bending and cutting it to form a stunning garden seat.

All materials will be provided and the workshop includes a two-course homemade lunch served with local wine. At the end of the two days you will have created your own Bentwood chair to take home with you. Alternatively, we can arrange to deliver your chair locally if transport is a problem.

“It’s amazing that in two days people can learn how to make a chair from hazel rods. The Bentwood chair making workshop is a good introduction to rustic woodcraft and it’s always a sociable two days with a fantastic atmosphere.” John Hollis.

All the willow and hazel is coppiced from two small woodlands managed by John who, as well as running workshops and woodcraft courses, runs many local community projects.
