Wooden Coffee Table/Stool  Making Workshop

Sat 11th & Sun 12th May 2019 | 10am until 4pm

Due to demand we are very excited to be hosting a 2 day handcrafted wooden table/stool making workshop with John our tutor for our Bentwood Chair making workshops. With exceptional talent, he will guide you  step by step over the 2 days, showing you how to transform pieces of wood into a stunning side table or stool.

You will be introduced to and shown how to work with a mix of traditional and modern woodworking tools and techniques for this beautiful woodcraft. The legs will be split with a froe, then shaped using a draw knife on a shaving horse and jointed to the table top using a mortise and tenon joint. Pure craftsmanship

Offering a selection of wood choices from, Ash, Sweet Chestnut or Oak, your piece will be truly personal and stunning, perfect for your home or garden.

All materials will be provided and the workshop includes a two-course homemade lunch served with local wine. At the end of the two days you will have created and crafted by your own hand a coffee table or stool to take home with you.

“It’s amazing that in two days people can learn how to make a small table from raw materials. The workshop is a good introduction to rustic woodcraft and it’s always a sociable two days with a fantastic atmosphere.” John Hollis.

Perfect partners!

A beautiful hand made Bentwood Chair and stunning side table made by you.

“At every Bentwood Chair making workshop we run, our guests are always so delighted with the outcome of what they have created they never fail to ask the question ‘What can I make next’! A side table or stool has always been suggested, to sit beautifully next to the chair. Thanks to John our fabulous tutor he has now devised a workshop to make just that! Pictures do not do either piece of furniture the justice they deserve, but I can guarantee you, you will not be disappointed”.  – Amanda Stone – Events Host

What a brilliant weekend this was – John is a lovely, patient teacher, we were lucky to have wonderful weather so we worked outside and were kept fuelled by the usual delicious Hanwell hospitality. At the end of the weekend I had an absolutely stunning table – I’m so proud of it, every time I look at it I smile and think “I made that!”
